Chicago Film Archives is proud to announce the completion of a fully photochemical preservation of Caligari’s Cure, a 1982 underground feature made by filmmaker Tom Palazzolo.
While Palazzolo is most well-known for his experimental and darkly comedic documentaries about Chicago oddballs, this semi-autobiographical narrative is a significant work of highly personal, distinctly midwestern underground filmmaking. The film also features appearances from a wide range of Chicago performers and artists, including Carmela Rago, Andy Somma, Ellen Fisher, Heather McAdams, and P. Adams Sitney.
The film is now available to watch for free right here on our website, and a new 16mm preservation print is available for loan to qualified curators and film programmers.

Many thanks to The Film Foundation, the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, the National Film Preservation Foundation, and Colorlab for their help in preserving this film for the future!
