Christy LeMaster, founder of the spectacular Nightingale Cinema here in Chicago, has headed down to Brazil to help organize Perto de Lá<>Close to There at the Museu da Arte da Bahia. A collaboration with Projeto Ativa, Perto de Lá<>Close to There is month-long slate of arts programs that brings together a collection of programmers from Chicago, Amsterdam, Mexico City, and Salvador to revive contemporary art exhibition at the museum and in Salvador as a whole.
We’re delighted that Christy has selected one of CFA’s films to present as part of a program called CHICAGO LOVES SALVADOR on Sunday, November 29. Information about our film is below (with a link to watch it!), and more information about the whole program is available here.
Cities: Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (Jack Behrend, 1984, 16mm)
Digital renderings of various cityscapes, moving from the east to the west coast. The buildings are depicted in a yellow outline, with the buildings by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill appearing in blueish-white outline. The camera quickly zooms and tracks among the cityscapes, occasionally panning to highlight an individual building. The soundtrack consists of wind and string instruments playing a repetitive tune.
