Kathy Monk
Kathy Monk co-founded Brave New Pictures, Inc. 30 years ago. She first honed her production skills in corporate/educational communications. Since then her narrative abilities have been utilized in a broad range of projects including the broadcast and streaming series TravelQuest, Journeys in India, Journeys in Africa, and Grannies on Safari – all of which have aired internationally. She has enjoyed collaborating on extensive media for museum exhibits that include Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition, The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes, Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times, and most recently live-action narrative for the IMAX film Dinosaur Discoveries: A Holographic Adventure. Her work is currently on display at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.
Kathy has embraced storytelling techniques through producing and editing. She considers travel to be the greatest education and her work has taken her to diverse destinations such as Death Valley, Australia, Siberia, Egypt, India, Mongolia, Turkey, South Africa, Nepal, Iceland, and Morocco.
Kathy previously served on the boards of two nonprofits and joined the Board of the Chicago Film Archives in 2015 where she currently serves as president. Her love of film and photography makes working toward the common goal of connecting people to CFA’s collections extremely important and fulfilling to her.
