Abstract
In this silent Telenews newsreel, a 28-ship detachment of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet sails off the coast of Chicago in Lake Michigan in the summer of 1959. Operation Inland Seas was a United States Navy operation to celebrate the completion of the Saint Lawrence Seaway in 1959; it was the Navy's first show of might on the Great Lakes since the War of 1812.
