Abstract

This film documents the 105th and final birthday party of Rudolph Schrader, former Olympic gymnast, retired Sears Roebuck and Co. cabinetmaker, American Turners of Northwest Chicago member, and oldest Berwyn, Illinois resident at the time.

Description

This film begins as Rudolph Schrader’s birthday is announced at a social gathering, attendees sing "Happy Birthday," and WLS-TV Channel 7 reporter Fred Villanueva assists Schrader in cutting a cake. The film concludes as Schrader provides a speech and poses with his 5-year old great-grandson Todd Schrader, who was born on the same day.

Schrader was oldest living Olympian at the time of this party, having competed in gymnastics in the 1904 Games.
