Abstract
The classic Brothers Grimm fairytale is beautifully rendered in this hand-painted animated film. Narrated and set to an original adaptation of Debussy's "Clair de Lune", Briar Rose, The Sleeping Beauty tells the story of a princess upon whom a curse is cast, and who subsequently falls into a sleep that lasts a hundred years. Arguably one of Somersaulter-Moats and Somersaulter's most visually stunning films, Briar Rose moves dream-like from one watercolor scene to the next, while faithfully recreating the beloved tale.
