Abstract

Construction materials are transported by helicopter to the floor of the Grand Canyon in order to build the St. Andrew’s Mission Church on April 12, 1948.

Description

This film shows a helicopter as it transports construction materials and a cross to the floor of the Grand Canyon where newly converted members of the Havasupai Indian tribe reside. On April 12, 1948, the St. Andrew’s Mission Church is constructed. Those in attendance include Episcopal Church Bishop Arthur B. Kinsolving, Missionary Bishop of Arizona who consecrates the church, as well as Reverend Robert P. Frazier who had ministered the community for several months prior to the church’s construction.
