Description

This film shows extensive wreckage after the San Francisco Chief passenger train crashed into an 8,000 gallon oil tanker truck on Allen Avenue 0.5 mile north of Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield, California on March 1, 1960. 14 people were killed and 40 were injured. 9 of 11 cars were derailed. Emergency responders including firemen, police, and private contractors are shown as they work through the night to disentangle the wreck and recover bodies.
