Abstract
Senator Barry Goldwater answers questions related to the Cold War, US Foreign Policy, and national politics at a press conference at O'Hare Airport on June 15, 1961.
Description
Senator Barry Goldwater sits for a press conference at O'Hare Airport. He answers questions about the current strength of the Republican Party, whether Richard Nixon will run for Governor of California in 1962 or President in 1964, Fidel Castro's offer to exchange prisoners for tractors, the prospect of demilitarizing Berlin, Nikita Khrushchev, the John Birch Society, the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, the threat of Communism, the threat of another World War, Goldwater's plans to run for President (he says he has no plans to run), President Kennedy's popularity, and America losing the Cold War.

After this, the remainder of the footage is silent. With a United DC-8 Jet Mainliner plane on the tarmac, Senator Goldwater comes out and is greeted by some middle aged men. He sits for the conference. There is footage of the reporters and of men filming the conference on 16mm cameras on tripods. All of this footage appears to precede the press conference, even though it comes after it on the reel.
