Description
Surrounded by a large group of reporters and policemen, Donald Lawrence is asked to re-enact his confrontation with Detective Lyons Kelliher and Officer William Derrig at a jazz club at 2801 Warren Avenue on January 25, 1956. Revolver in hand, he describes being frisked by Officer Derrig and shooting Detective Kelliher twice. He says he purchased the gun for $69 in Colorado Springs, and is then handcuffed as the crowd disperses. Officer Julian Ford then describes receiving an anonymous telephone call identifying the suspect.
