Description
Begins with home movie footage of Beryl Simon's friend (or perhaps her friend's mother) talking to the camera from her car. This seems to have been filmed at their home in Oak Park during the winter; the next shot is of the same woman leaving the house carrying packages. She gets into the back of the car, waves, and a younger woman can be seen in the driver's seat.
Next shot is of young girl (Simon's friend's daughter) walking in the front yard, playing with the snow; a woman in a dress without a coat (who may be Simon herself) soon joins her.
This is followed by very clear footage of Museum Campus and Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. The snowy streets seem rather empty with the exception of a few cars speeding by; the Shedd Aquarium can be seen, as well as the Field Museum.
There is footage of skyscrapers across Michigan Avenue, followed by very clear shots of the Defense of Dearborn sculpture at the DuSable Bridge.
The camera pans across the cityscape to further reveal a massive building under construction at the Chicago River; big signs "40 East Oak Apts." and "North Western Limited, Corn King Limited, Finest in the World."
Next few shots include glimpses of other important Chicago architectural landmarks: 35 East Wacker (also known the Jeweler's Building), the Intercontinental Hotel, the Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower, and the Carbide and Carbon Building. Last few seconds depicts the snowy suburban streets of the home at Oak Park.
