This collection contains 16mm films produced by Chicago-based child psychiatrist, Dr. Jerome L. Schulman, in the 1960s and 70s. The films relate to the interaction of illness and emotions, particularly in children and were intended for professional and non-professional audiences.

Jerome L. Schulman, M.D. was a Child Psychiatrist in Chicago for more than forty years. He retired in 1993 after serving as Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Northwestern University Medical School and Chairman of Child Psychiatry at The Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Schulman is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Psychiatry, and the American Board of Child Psychiatry. During his long career he authored numerous articles and books as well as wrote and produced a number of short films, several of which won awards at international film festivals. All of these films relate, in one way or another to the interaction of illness and emotions and were intended for professional and non-professional audiences.

This collection of films were created and previously stored by Jerome L. Schulman, MD. The prints were donated to CFA by Schulman and his wife Joan Rehm in September of 2014.
