Abstract
This home movie includes shots of kids hanging out on the streets in the Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. One of the scenes includes an impressive mural that was a part of the Art & Soul program that McIlvaine directed during a 6-month period in 1970. The concept of Art & Soul was to create new forms of style and art because museums and contemporary art were often so strongly identified with white culture, Art & Soul, was designed to contribute to mutual respect and understanding between black and white artists of the time.
