Short film meant for television, released by the United States of America War Office in 1958. The footage depicts the construction and ultimate launch of Pioneer 3, which was a spacecraft intended as a lunar probe. While it failed to go past the moon, it did reach an altitude of 102,360 km before falling back to Earth. The Pioneer 3 was launched by the U.S. Army Ballistic Missile Agency in conjunction with NASA.
