Abstract
This episode of the Earthkeeping series details the ways in which modern city growth affects its residents. “City Life” takes us to the Pruitt-Igoe housing projects in St. Louis, a site used to exemplify how urban sprawl can potentially trap a population within the confines of the city. At the conclusion of the program members of Chicago’s Citizens Action Program (CAP) testify against property expansion on the city’s waterfront at a city hearing. Throughout the episode, members of Chicago’s Second City improv group (including pre-SNL John Belushi) provide relevant sketches that are used as interludes in the program.
