Colorlab Corp is pleased to formally announce
the creation of an annual film preservation grant to the Chicago
Film Archives.
This grant will enable the full film-to-film and
film-to-video mastering of selected projects throughout each year.
The projects will be selected by Director Nancy Watrous and the
Board.
This program addresses the very real need for
motion picture preservation services of culturally and historically
important films.
There will always be films needing not only preservation
but also homes with active venues for exhibition and public access,
and it is the regional archives that to a large part fulfill these
needs.
The staff at Colorlab is excited about this outreach
to CFA and is looking forward to a growing partnership with this
regional archive in the joyous undertaking of preserving our cinematic
heritage.
Russ Suniewick, President
Colorlab Corp.
With additional funding from the National Film Preservation Foundation
and the Women's Film Preservation Fund, Colorlab restored four films
from CFA's Margaret Conneely collection. Fairy Princess in 2005,
Chicago, City to see in '63, The 45, and Mister E. in 2007. In 2006,
Colorlab in conjunction with Chace Productions restored three films
from CFA's Film Group Collection-Urban Crisis Series: The Right
to Dissent: A Press Conference, Social Confrontation: The Battle
of Michigan Avenue, Law and Order vs. Dissent, and Police Power
and the Freedom of Assembly: The Gregory March.
