Home movies capture family legacies, firmly plant our lives in history, and sometimes just set the record straight. They offer moving documentation of what we otherwise can never retrieve – ourselves, our families, and our friends as we lived our lives in the tumultuous and ever-changing twentieth century.
Chicago Film Archives firmly believes that the public presentation of these family legacies builds and strengthens communities. This event is not only a celebration of lives well lived, it is an opportunity to reconsider these home movies as historical records that have value to our culture, reaching far beyond the family.
