Abstract
The Hoosier Hot Shots perform at a barn dance in Iowa.
Description
The film begins with a scripted segment, wherein the locals of Grundy Center, Iowa excitedly spread the word about a barn warming that night. In a montage, men, women and children get gussied up for the party. Once they arrive, they square dance and the host announces that the Hoosier Hot Shots are the night's entertainment. He introduces multi-instrumentalists Hezzie, Gabe, Frank and Ken to much applause. The group performs four novelty songs, including "Virginia Blues" and "This is the Chorus of the Song," as the crowd drinks cider, eats apples, and laughs.
The Hoosier Hot Shots got their start on local Indiana radio in the early 1930s, and went on to enjoy a successful national radio career on National Barn Dance on WLS-AM in Chicago before moving to Hollywood to star in many feature-length western movies.
